Edremit is a district in the Balıkesir province of Turkey. When I visited, I saw evidence of a settlement that existed before the Roman Empire. It was originally called Adramyttion in Greek, and then Adramyttium in Latin.

I believe the area where this name was used was not the same place as Edremit is now, but rather somewhere near the Goose Mountains.
