I would be happy if people who have had a root canal treatment in the past, either recently or a long time ago, and remember their first time, share their experience with me. This is the last option before getting a root canal treatment.

Dentists often put a cap or crown on a tooth to protect it. Over time, the tooth may need to be treated with a root canal, which is a procedure where the dentist removes the damaged or infected tissue inside the tooth.

When a dentist needs to clean out the cavities in a tooth, they make a hole in the tooth. If the hole is opened too wide, it can expose the nerve. This is called capping and it usually takes 21 days to treat. If the capping doesn't work, the dentist will usually do a root canal treatment.

It's really annoying that the capping treatment didn't work and now I have to go through the root canal treatment again. I wish I had known this before so I could have done it the first time.

This is an experiment. If you don't use the right materials and follow the correct procedure when setting up a rubber dam for dental treatment, it won't be successful and it will be a waste of time.

Capping is a treatment method used when the pulp inside the tooth is not exposed. There are two types of capping: direct and indirect. Direct capping is used when the cavity is very deep and the pulp chamber is only open in one spot. This means that the pulp does not become inflamed. Indirect capping is used when there is still 1-2 mm of dentin between the dentin and the pulp chamber. If a person experiences severe throbbing pain after this treatment, then a root canal treatment is needed.

When a dentist drills into a tooth, sometimes they can accidentally make a hole that goes too deep. This exposes the pulp, which is the soft tissue inside the tooth. To fix this, the dentist will put a cap over the hole to protect the pulp. This is called "pulp capping".
