philantropica
Once upon a time, there was a city with two types of people: the wealthy and the poor. The only ones in between were the stray dogs, who were like the middle class.
A beggar who does not have an interesting story to tell will likely not get any money and will eventually starve to death. This idea is explored in the movies "Sener Sen's Honest" and "The Truman Show" which both have a dark sense of humor.
There is no limit to how creative you can be. You can make money doing any job, but if you want to make a living off of writing or love, you won't be successful. This movie claims that wealth, poverty, and sex are the only three jobs in the world, which is ridiculous, yet it still has a high rating on IMDB. We give it a 60/100.
Nae Caranfil's movie made me feel better about not giving money to beggars. The scene where the beggar's brother tricked the Romanian government and gave himself a bonus was really powerful. It showed that it is not wrong to ask for help, but it is wrong to not accept it.
If you want to watch a movie, don't waste your time on Romania's "Saban" example from 20 years ago. Instead, look for more valuable examples of cinematic art.
This movie was really enjoyable and welcoming. I hadn't heard anything about it before I watched it, but after watching it I think it deserves the great reviews it has been given.
