if i learned japanese at the first opportunity years later, it's probably one of two reasons (the other is candy girl candy). i even had a photo print from this series on the front of my lunchbox in elementary school. i was glued to it as soon as i saw it at the stationery store. there are some movies, the more you watch, the more you don't get bored. one of them for me.

this was one of our childhood dramas. toranaga anjinsan etc. has always been embedded in our culture thanks to this drama.

seitai is short for shogun. it means the general who defeated the barbarians. a title given to generals who were sent to defeat the ainuliari, a relatively backward people living in northern japan at the time. it later turned into a royal feudal office that ruled the country instead of the emperor given to only one person.
