Yelena Hajiyevna Isinbayeva, a retired Russian athlete and current ranking officer of the Russian Armed Forces and athletic trainer, is the best female pole runner in history. Her father is from Dagestan and her mother is of Russian descent. She was born in Volgograd, one of the sister cities of Izmir.
